Method
Cook the Beef:
- In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper to taste, if desired.
Prepare the Minute Rice:
- In a small saucepan prepare Minute Instant White Rice according to package instructions. Rice will be done at the same time as beef and sauce.
Make the Sauce:
- In a bowl, combine the dark brown sugar, low-sodium soy sauce, water, and cornstarch. Stir until the mixture is well blended.
Prepare the Garlic and Ginger:
- In the same skillet, sauté the minced garlic and ginger in hot oil until fragrant, which should take about 1 minute.
Combine and Simmer:
- Add the sauce mixture to the skillet with the garlic and ginger. Simmer the sauce, stirring often, until it thickens.
Add the Beef:
- Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet. Stir everything together well to ensure the beef is fully coated with the sauce.
