The first trimester is no joke! You’re exhausted. You realize morning sickness doesn’t actually end with the morning. Plus you’re probably experiencing all of this while trying to keep your pregnancy a secret from family, friends, and co-workers. I put together some of my first trimester must haves to get through the first few months of pregnancy. I hope these things help you like they’ve helped me!
My First Trimester Must Haves
- Prenatal Vitamins: I’ve taken these Prenatal vitamins since a year before I was pregnant with Arabella. I did a ton of research before settling on this one. They’re a clean whole food vitamin, contain folate (not folic acid which is a synthetic form), they contain probiotics and enzymes to help with digestion. I also take this DHA vitamin.
- Gin Gins: Anything with ginger is a win for me in the first trimester. These Gin Gin candies are easy to take with you on the go and really help when I feel nausea coming on.
- Bra: A comfortable bra is a must when you’re pregnant. You’re body starts changing and an underwire bra is a no go for me. This bra is the most comfortable one I’ve found and it looks amazing with a t-shirt. Bralettes are also a win for me through pregnancy and postpartum.
- Tea: This First Trimester Tea from Pink stork was so helpful to me throughout this pregnancy. I can’t drink coffee for most of the first trimester because it triggers my morning sickness, but I love drinking a warm cup of something throughout the day. Bonus this tea contains ginger and other herbs to help fight nausea and keep you feeling good.
- B-6: I added this into my supplements this pregnancy and I think it’s really helped.
- Sea Bands: These motion sickness bands also help with morning sickness. I use these when I’m feeling really sick and they help a ton.
- BellaBand: I am a huge proponent of not spending money of maternity clothes you’re not going to get much use out of. I’ve gotten through my first trimester for all of my pregnancies wearing my regular jeans and this amazing band.
- Snacks: Eating small snacks throughout the day before I feel sick if key for me. If i wait to long I tend to feel to sick to eat. Keeping some crackers, a bar, popcorn, or cereal handy in my bag is a must for me.
- Water: I usually drink room temperature water but when I’m pregnant I need ice cold water and lots of it. Staying hydrated is super important no matter what but when I’m pregnant I try even harder to make sure I’m keeping up with my water intake. This insulated water bottle has been soooo good for keeping my water cold and helping make sure I get enough ounces throughout the day.
- Smoothies: I love cold fruit when I’m pregnant. It’s one of the only things I can eat consistently during the first trimester so I make sure to make a smoothie everyday to get the nutrients from the fruits and greens. I can’t make a smoothie without my Vitamix blender. I love coming up with my own recipes but Splendid Spoon is amazing for busy moms on the go and I love all of their flavors.
