Anyone else’s kids obsessed with crafting and holidays?! Mine are over here the minute we put Christmas away begging for a Valentine’s Day craft. I put together a simple craft you can do with your kids and maybe it’ll even buy you a few minutes to enjoy a warm cup of coffee!
This Valentine’s Day craft is super simple and I bet you already have everything you need at home. Those are my favorite kinds of crafts!
What You Need + Instructions
- Paper + my free printable
- Colored Paper or Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
This project is great because it can be adopted for different ages. If you have more then one kid they can all participate and have fun creating their own version at their own skill level.
Young Toddlers
For young toddlers without scissor skills I recommend cutting the construction paper into 1 inch squares and then letting them glue the pieces onto the heart. I used this version with my daughter at age 2-3.
Preschoolers
Preschoolers who are working on scissors skills can do some of the cutting themselves. I pre-cut the construction paper into 1 inch strips and let your preschooler cut them into the smaller squares themselves. At 4 years old my daughter loves cutting independently. This also lengthens the time your kids will spend creating their project. I always make such to supervise when my kids are using scissors. Make sure an adult is present if you choose this method.
