Do you thrive on organization do you like to wing it? I used to think I was a laid back go with the flow type of girl. The truth is, I’ve learned my days go 100 percent better when I’m planned and organized. Here are 5 organization tips for moms I’ve learned that keep me from becoming overwhelmed.
5 tips for staying organized as a mom:
Start using a planner
I used to keep everything organized on my phone and computer. It turns out a paper planner was a game changer. Writing things down makes a huge difference in my organization. Having everything in one place helps me have a big picture idea of what needs to get done. I can prioritize my weeks, days and to do lists from there.
Embrace routine
Routines are a must for me and my kids. Kids thrive on routine. It helps them know what to expects each day. Trust me when I say routines keep me and my toddler from melting down. Building in blocks of time for the things we NEED to get down help me accomplish my tasks more efficiently.
Write down to do lists
There’s something about the combination of writing down my to do’s and physically crossing off each job. It holds me accountable and leaves me feeling accomplished when I see how much I actually got done.
Meal plan
This one saves so much time and money. We sit down as a family over the weekend, plan our meals based on things we need to eat in the house, the current season or things we’ve been craving. From there we put together a grocery order of exactly what we need from the store to complete the recipes. I love using Walmart for grocery pick up and delivery! Taking two kids into a store for groceries is not something I’d describe as fun. It saves me a ton of money because I only buy things that we actually need for the week.
Automate as much as possible
Put as much as you can on autopilot (budget, bills, savings, pantry staples, clothes). I love taking tasks off my plate and still having them get done. The Mint app is great to keep track of our monthly spending, savings and bills. I automate our investments and bill payments. Automation helps to avoid late fees and make sure we are keeping on track with our savings goals.
My outfit is from my August Wantable Active Edit. I get 7 pieces styled for me each month and I get to try them on in the comfort of my home on my schedule. This is a huge time saver for me. I don’t have to browse tons of websites finding pieces I like. I don’t waste time driving to or walking through stores and wrangling a toddler in fitting rooms. It’s seriously the only way I would have new clothes. You can try it out risk free here and save $25 on your first edit!
