I’m obsessed with Valentine’s Day. Not the whole gifts or going out to an over priced restaurant because I’m WAYYYYY to cheap for that! I LOVE making this month of love super special for my kids though. These ombre Valentine’s Day cookies are a perfect baking tradition to start with your kids. They taste amazing and are a simple no fail recipe your kids can help you make.
If you don’t have time to make them from scratch, I guarantee your kids will have just as much fun with some store bought dough and frosting that you can color at home!
Valentine’s Day Cookies
My daughter and I make these cookies together every year for Valentine’s Day. Baking with kids is a great way to teach life skills, math, and let’s face they always have fun even if it makes us moms crazy! I love doing Valentine’s Day cut out hearts because it simplifies things — only one cookie cutter shape! We mix things up and make them more interesting by decorating them with different shades of pink frosting for an ombre effect and adding some fun heart sprinkles. Decorating is definitely my kids favorite part!
