Store bought hand soap can get expensive, especially now that we’re all washing our hands a thousand times a day. Plus the store bought hand soap is often filled with chemicals and toxins we don’t want to be using on our skin.
Making your own natural foaming hand soap is so easy. It takes about two minutes and can be made with just two ingredients. I add a few extras to mine and I’ll share why.
What you’ll need to make your own natural foaming hand soap
- Castile Soap – I like to use Dr. Bronner’s baby unscented soap. It’s a big bottle and super versatile, so one lasts forever.
- Foaming Hand Soap Dispenser – I used this one I found on Amazon that works with a mason jar for a pretty farmhouse look, but you can use any hand soap dispenser you want, you can even reuse one from store bought soap.
Directions
Fill a foaming hand soap container 1/5 of the way with Castile soap. Fill the rest of the way with water. Make sure to leave about 1/2 inch of space at the top for the air. Close the top and shake gently to mix the ingredients.
BOOM! That’s it! …but I like to add in a few extras for a really great hand washing experience.
Extras
To help prevent my hands from getting dried out from washing I add 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin and a few drops of vitamin E oil. Adding these ingredients to your hand soap will help moisturize your hands. If you don’t have vegetable glycerin you can add a teaspoon of olive oil or almond oil for a similar result. I add 10-20 drops essential oil for a pleasant aroma and the germ fighting properties they provide. I use this Germ Fighter, Kid’s Safe Germ Destroyer, or a citrus oil.
It makes a super refreshing, great smelling hand soap that will leave your hands feeling soft and clean. My whole family loves it and I hope you will too!
